Peter’s Trivia Section

Michael’s Musical Moment

MP: Fiddler in Philly Richard Wargo

I wanted to call your attention to what very well may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: the chance to hear the entire score to “Fiddler on the Roof” featuring John Williams’ glorious 1971 film orchestrations performed by an excellent student cast from the University of Michigan with the spectacular 70-piece Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Andy Einhorn (in fact, it was a Broadway Radio interview with Mr. Einhorn some months ago that brought this program to my attention in the first place.)
I’ve just driven back to NE Pa. from Philadelphia after seeing the opening Thursday night performance. There are two more chances to see this extravaganza: Saturday, March 5 at 8:00 and Sunday, March 6 at 2:00. It’s a must-see for any fan of “Fiddler” or John Williams (what a thrill to hear the palette of those rich arrangements performed live by such a grand orchestra!)
