On this episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with the two winners of the 2022 Kleban Prize for the Most Promising Musical Theatre Lyricist, César Alvarez and Isabella Dawis.
The Kleban Prize was established via the will of Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning lyricist, Edward L. Kleban, best known for his work on “A Chorus Line,” and comes with an annual prize which in recent years has totaled $100,000 each paid over two years.
The Kleban Foundation will present the 32nd annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre in a virtual ceremony streaming online at Broadway On Demand starting Monday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. ET. Free and open to the public, the event will feature musical performances from this year’s recipients as well as special appearances by Tony Award winners Bernadette Peters, Richard Maltby, Jr. and Maury Yeston.
