On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with the Tony-nominated star and producer of “Purpose,” Glenn Davis. On stage, David plays Solomon “Junior” Jasper, a role for which he was nominated for a Tony Award in the Best Featured Actor in a Play category. As he is also the co-artistic director of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, which originally commissioned this work and produced it in Chicago and on Broadway, Davis is also nominated in the Best Play category.
In their conversation, Matt and Glenn discuss the Pulitzer Prize-winning work of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, the excellent direction from Phylicia Rashad, and the record-tying five Tony nominations for the ensemble of actors.
Since the interview was recorded, “Purpose” has extended its Broadway run by two weeks, so you can now see it at the Helen Hayes Theatre through Aug. 31.
