In 2009, Michael Portantiere sent Stephen Sondheim questions for a book Michael was writing as part of a series of books being published by Hal Leonard Publishing. Michael was covering the topic of the 2007 movie of Sweeney Todd, starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Alan Rickman. Mr. Sondheim answered Michael’s questions by recording himself on a cassette tape, and sent the tape to Michael. The publishing company decided to kill the line of books, hence these answers were never published. On a special episode of BroadwayRadio Interviews, we listen to the answers and discuss them.
