For – in all seriousness – AND THE WINNER IS … YOU! also functions as a glorification of the common person. Which of us hasn’t dreamed of getting an award in front of theater full of applauding people? How many of us have had our acceptance speeches ready to go since childhood? This show allows a part of the dream to come true in the midst of a good time.

Peter’s Brainteasers:

An actor and an actress made five films together, one of which became a musical.

This was in the early ‘60s.

The musical had a different name from the film.

It wasn’t a hit, although the entire score was written by a lyricist who had won a Best Song Oscar.

This ‘60s musical in question happened little more than a year after the actress in question had starred in a different musical that wasn’t a hit, either.

As for the actor, he never appeared in a Broadway musical, but he is mentioned in one, thanks to a lyric in a Jerry Herman song.

Who are they?

In what film did they appear?

What was the name of its musical version of it?

In what musical did she star?

In what Jerry Herman song is he mentioned?
