On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with Tony-nominated writer and composer Joe Iconis to discuss his 13th annual ‘Joe Iconis Christmas Extravaganza’ happening at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 10 at 54 Below in New York City.
This annual tradition is back after a pandemic-created three-year hiatus and is jam-packed with members of Joe’s “Family.” Over the course of the weekend, every show will have at least 50 people performing in this holiday concert meets Christmas musical meets rock concert.
In their conversation, Joe tells Matt about what Christmas specials inspired the Extravaganza, how casting the show is similar to herding cats, and — in a move reminiscent of “Be More Chill” — that one time he had to have a guy kicked out of the show while he was hiding in the bathroom.
