Special Episode: Jessica Vosk on the Strategy of ‘Chess’

Play

On this special episode, Matt Tamanini is joined by his mother’s absolute favorite Broadway performer, Jessica Vosk. She — Jessica, not Matt’s mom — is getting ready to star as Florence Vassy in The Muny’s production of “Chess” from July 5-11 in St. Louis.

In their conversation, Jess pulls back the curtain on what a thrilling, but challenging score “Chess” is to sing, but why working on the part of Florence has been so rewarding. She also chronicles her history with the show’s composers, ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, discusses what other shows she’d like to work on at The Muny, and theorizes about who the best chess player in the cast would be.
