On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with Diane Phelan, who is currently playing Cinderella in the national tour of the Tony-nominated production of “Into the Woods” that is currently playing the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, Fla. Diane originally understudied the role (amongst many others) on Broadway before taking over as the show’s princess fulltime in the final weeks of its run in New York.
In their conversation, the unusual process of taking a show on tour with so much of the Broadway cast, the responsibility of bringing the show — and Stephen Sondheim’s work — across the country, and what the cast has plans for the Tony Awards on Sunday night.
