Peter’s Trivia Section

In the closing section of one of Stephen Sondheim’s opening numbers, you’ll hear a plural noun that – if you turned it into a singular noun – would sound the same as the last name of a person with whom Sondheim would eventually work for the bulk of his career. It isn’t spelled the same, but it sounds the same.

What’s the plural noun – yes, plural, so don’t give me INTO THE WOODS lyric “and dance before the prince” as in Hal Prince. That’s a singular noun. Who’s the person whose name almost sounds like this plural noun?
