BROADWAYRADIO

Special Episode: Mauricio Martínez on the Importance of ‘La Mancha’

Play

On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with Mauricio Martínez, who is currently starring in “Man of La Mancha” at the Asolo Rep in Sarasota, Fla. An Emmy-winner, Broadway star, and cabaret favorite, Mauricio explains why he has long dreamt of playing Don Quixote. As a Mexican immigrant with Spanish heritage, Mauricio grew up on the stories of Miguel de Cervantes, making the production running through June 11 a full-circle moment.

Mauricio also discusses the unique and revelatory reimagining done for this production and the talented and diverse group of artists who make it happen. He also discusses the return of his cabaret from earlier this year, which will be recorded as a live album.
