Special Episodes: Patrick Page on the Lessons of ‘Lear’

Play

On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with the King of the Underworld, Patrick Page. The “Hadestown” star recently turned in one throne for another when he left the Tony-winning Best Musical to jump back into a show that he has loved for most of his life.

Page is now leading an acclaimed production of William Shakespeare’s “King Lear” at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington D.C. This record-breaking production has been extended multiple times and will now play through April 16.

In the conversation, Patrick and Matt talk about why the actor continues to return to Shakespeare, what skills are needed to work in both the classics and musical theatre, his role in the upcoming season of “Schmigadoon,” why he’s always cast as the powerful, foreboding rich guys, and much more.
