Sondheim Unplugged – Saturday, December 26 at 8pm Eastern Time and On Demand December 27 – Jan 9

We’re Still Here! Silenced since February, the Company of our award-winning series, Sondheim Unplugged is thrilled to be Back in Business, this time in the comfort of your own living room (what an Epiphany!) A celebrated New York event since 2010 (It’s a Hit!), Sondheim Unplugged features some of Broadway and cabaret’s most dynamic voices, accompanied by piano only, delving into the musical world of Broadway’s master composer. Hosted by series creator Phil Geoffrey Bond, expect fun facts and tidbits about the original productions and an evening well spent with Old Friends. God, That’s Good!

Featuring Darius DeHaas, Natalie Douglas, Telly Leung, T. Oliver Reid, Nicholas Rodriguez, and Lucia Spina, Sondheim Unplugged is created and hosted by Phil Geoffrey Bond, with music direction by Joe Goodrich.

Called, “a true force of nature,” and “in a league of her own,” by Clive Davis of The Times (UK) in his TWO five-star reviews of two different London appearances, Natalie Douglas is a Nightlife, two-time Backstage Bistro, twelve-time MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) & BroadwayWorld Best Cabaret Vocalist Award Winner and recipient of the Donald F. Smith & Margaret Whiting Awards from the Mabel Mercer Foundation. Natalie’s portrait also hangs on the legendary Birdland Jazz Club Wall of Fame.

Her performances have brought crowds to their feet across the U.S. (Carnegie Hall, Birdland, Café Carlyle, Herbst Theatre, Thalian Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room) and the world (The UK, Germany, Italy, Montenegro, Greece, Corsica, Turkey, Monaco, Argentina and Mexico) with many different concerts featuring tributes to Nina Simone, Lena Horne, Nat “King” Cole, Roberta Flack, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis, Jr., Stevie Nicks & Stevie Wonder, Dame Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, & Cher as well as shows about Cafe Society, the music of the 70’s and 80’s, songs of various civil rights movements and gospel-influenced jazz and blues.

Natalie’s critically acclaimed, award-winning third album, “Human Heart,” and her first two CDs, “To Nina…Live At Birdland” and “Not That Different,” are available on iTunes, Amazon.com, Spotify, and GooglePlay. She also appears on Fine and Dandy for PS Classics and Broadway By The Year: 1940 on Bayview Records. She is a great favorite of broadcasters and her music is often featured on NPR and Sirius XM Radio & BBCLondon Radio.

As an actor, she has appeared in 18 editions of “The Atrainplays,” (a 24-hour birth to performance event) at the Neighborhood Playhouse, The Peter Sharp Theatre and New World Stages and off-Broadway in “The People vs. Mona,” by the writers of Pumpboys & Dinettes. She appeared in the horror film, “The Camera’s Eye,” ABC’s “Cupid” and can be seen with her gorgeous husband showing off the good education her parents paid for on The Discovery Channel’s “Cash Cab.”

In addition to her work as a singer/actor, Natalie is a popular & much sought after educator, working worldwide with singers of all ages in her capacity as the master teacher for the Mabel Mercer Foundation. Natalie specializes in diversity workshops & masterclasses for public and private schools, as well as devoting attention to individual study.

Michael: A Country Christmas Carol

A Country Christmas Carol “On Air,” The Musical will premiere on Audio Stages, WBAI 99.5 FM on December 19, 2020, at 7pm. Just two days before the release of the show’s Studio Cast Album.

Tony award winner Hal Linden (The Rothschilds) hosts and three-time Tony nominee, Terrence Mann (CATS, Les Mis, Beauty and the Beast, The Addams Family) narrates. A Country Christmas Carol, On Air, is presented by Tim Jerome (CATS, The Phantom of the Opera, Tarzan) and MainStreet Musicals as a part of the Audio Stages series on WBAI Radio 99.5FM NYC, Saturday, December 19 at 7 pm EST.

The broadcast coincides with the first-time release of the show’s Studio Cast Album, available December 21, 2020. iTunes is offering an exclusive pre-release sale with a discount on the album and three advance tracks available for immediate download on December 19 and 20, 2020.

The two Jaymies, James A. Rocco (CATS, The Wizard of Oz) and Jayme McDaniel (XCaliber, Broadway on Demand), conceived and directed the Audio Stages’ adaptation. McDaniel said, “Our goal was to capture the exuberance of a live musical while highlighting cuts from this terrific new album.”

“I always loved this show. To keep me sane during the pandemic, I decided to produce a recording. It was an amazing puzzle and a gift during this challenging year,” said Rocco.

A Country Christmas Carol “On Air,” with Music and Lyrics by Albert Evans (Pageant, Nite Club Confidential) and Book and Lyrics by Ronald Kaehler (Under the Overture) takes place in Marley County USA, where folks don’t have a whole lot, but everybody’s doing what they can to make the Christmas holiday crackle, except for one mean and miserly old coot who misses the entire point; Banker Scrooge, the meanest man in town. His secretary, Bobbie Jo Cratchit, is a young widow who sings like Patsy Cline and lives in a trailer community with her two small children, Jane and Tim. Bobbie Jo has been “counting to 10” for far too long and is about to break. Ring a bell?

Along with Mann and Linden, you’ll hear members from the Studio Cast Album: G. Wayne Hoffman, Heidi Karol Johnson Bart Shatto (Les Mis, The Civil War), Audrey Lavine (Carrie, Rags, MAC Award winner), Christy Carlson Romano, Jack Ingram, Linda Sue Moshier, Dennis Deal, Valerie DeWeese, Janet Dunn, Tim Ewing, Tari Kelly, Alix Korey, Kevin McMahon, Randy Schmeling, Kellie Turner, Jessica Tyler Wright, and Patti Wyss.

The “on Air” version of A Country Christmas Carol has been expanded for live presentations and is available for licensing in 2021. Think Prairie Home Companion meets Charles Dickens. For licensing information visit: www.acountrychristmascarol.com
