2. 59E59 Announces Its 2020 Winter Season
59E59 Theaters unveiled its upcoming 2020 winter season yesterday with a slate that will include the Off-Broadway premiere of Duncan Sheik and Kyle Jarrow’s musical WHISPER HOUSE, which will be produced by The Civilians. A haunting story of love, loss, and forgiveness directed by Civilians artistic director Steve Cosson, the musical is reportedly set in an eerie lighthouse on the remote coast of Maine at the height of World War II. There, a young Christopher begins to hear strange music seeping through the walls. Casting for that production will be announced soon.
The season kicks off in January with the return of Olivier Award-winning company Fishamble with its production of Eva O’Connor’s play MAZ AND BRICKS, previously seen in a critically acclaimed world premiere in Ireland.
Also part of the season will be works from The Hearth’s world premiere of Lily Akerman’s THE COMMONS, Articulate Theatre Company’s MR. TOOLE, Cary Glitter’s THE SABBATH GIRL, Happenstance’s BAROCOCO, and The Pond Theatre Company’s production of Melissa Bubnic’s BOYS WILL BE BOYS. Information and tickets are available through 59e59.org.
