On this episode of BroadwayRadio’s “Tell Me More,” Matt Tamanini talks to a familiar face across New York stages, be they Broadway, Off-Broadway or cabaret. Kyle Taylor Parker made his Broadway debut as one of the angels in the original cast of “Kinky Boots.” He then went on to replace Tony winner Billy Porter as Lola in the Broadway company, having launched the national tour in the role.
Recently he’s been seen in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Smokey Joe’s Café,” “My Very Own British Invasion,” and “Jesus Christ Superstar Live.”
Despite those exciting credits, the project that we are going to talk about today is his new album, “Kyle Taylor Parker: Broadway Soul, Vol. 1.” KTP takes Broadway standards from across the decades and infuses them with R&B, Soul, Pop, and even a bit of reggae.
