On today’s episode, Matt Tamanini is in conversation with the two stars of the Center Stage Theatre production of “The Last Five Years,” which is playing in Shelton, Connecticut through Sunday, April 13. Alyx Levesque and Dale Melancon are playing Cathy and Jamie, but they bring a unique perspective to their onstage relationship, because the actors are married in real life.
When director Liz Muller decided to cast the production with an IRL couple, Alyx and Dale were her first choices, after all, she had officiated their wedding in 2023. Liz was able to blur the lines between fiction and reality by incorporating the couple’s actual wedding photos and videos into the production, in addition to creating new material to document the onstage couple’s less happy moments.
